Breton top and hot pants: past and present.

Who doesn’t got a Breton top and called themselves

fashionista?

This trend it´s something that would never be out of fashion. Since Coco Chanel in the 20´s took the stripes out of the nautical contest, every woman has follow the lead.

Alexa Chung is another trendsetter as Coco was, she wears the Breton top with big necklaces with a touch of untidiness, messy hair and skinny deep blue jeans. She reminds me to Coco Chanel, the “I can be bother of doing my hair today” look. The boyish look that the women from the 20´s look for. Being skinny and comfortable in their own skin is what it really matters. No need of uncomfortable and ridiculous amount of makeup and complicated hair. They left the Belle époque behind and step forward to a new era of freedom and self consciousness of who they were and who they wanted to be. What a perfect way of starting this new point of view than changing the way they dress!.

This philosophy is mostly the philosophy of every woman today, that is why I think the most important changes in fashion were due to the war, the necessity of the woman to become useful. There is such a big change from the 19th century to the 20th , from that era the mentality and the way of viewing the women changed for good. So I want to think that Chanel is the big heroin in fashion and having a Breton top in every women wardrobe is a way of reminding how grateful we are for this big change in fashion history..

Hot pants! From the summer of love in 1967, the hot pants have been the substituted of the mini skirt, paired with cropped t shirts and knee high boots. Who hasn’t cut a paired of levis to show some skin?

New trends keeps coming in the 70´s to make women start creating a new fashion, no old granny clothes, no expensive vintage stores, the creativity was a must, and new materials, new cuts and new patterns make the women look sexier.

“Free your mind and your clothes will follow”. The world was going fast and fashion was changing so quickly that the high street clothes gain a lot more of importance. The designers recognized this importance of change and the ready-to-wear became a must in every runway.

Also the music was a very important influence for fashion, people wanted to look like their favorite artists. Singers as Jimmy Hendrix or Sex Pistols made a huge impact in fashion.

I have never seen anyone looks so good in hot pants as Cloe Sevingny. For this spring-summer as in the 70´s hot pants is a must, better a pair of “homemade cut” levis. The trend keep the same, high waisted , very very short and mostly denim.

The temper trap

Though this blog is mainly about fashion, I have to share my love with the band The temper trap!. They are from Australia and they have this chill and cool vibe that most of the aussies have. I´m madly in love with the singer Dougy Mandagi, he has this mix raced look with such a good taste of clothes!. Hats, geeky glasses, roll up trousers, cool t-shirts, shorts very shorts!.
It definitely worth it seeing them in live, they have very powerful songs, and he has a great weird voice and a sexy way of moving! Are you going to miss that?!

Breakfast at tiffany´s in 2010

The other day I was watching one of my favourite movies (and one of the favourite of almost every girl in this world), and I kept thinking, why anyone has done a new version of Breakfast at Tiffany´s? a 2010 version, in a busier New York, and with an amazing actress as Audrey Tautou and a hottie like Gerald Butler? It´ll be the romcom of the year. How a potential actress survive in the big apple with the mercy of rich men who buys her presents: jimmy choo shoes, chanel bags, diamonds and pearls... Meanwhile some clever producer reads my blog and steal my idea, I have put together some outfits for this new version of Holly Golightly.

how to rock out the havaianas!

Today I got my new havaianas for this summer. I have always love this flip flops, they last forever, and they look great with so many outfits for the day. I have to admit I wear them too much, its my safe item in summer, so I put some potentials outfits together to wear with my new pair of mint green havaianas. They look great with skinny denim jeans and a stripy top, but also with flowery dresses and maxi accessories. Now you just have to pick your colour, and seriously that´s the hardest part!

Vampires

I have to admit, I hate twilight!, I seriously dont know what is all the fuss about this movie. Ok, I know what is all about, the actors are hot!, and honestly they are, the guy with the big hair, Robert Pattinson, has that grunge look that every girl likes, and well the other, the wolf, he is just fit.
Well... maybe those are reason enough to watch the movie?. I have always been quite curious about vampires movies, but I got so bored when I watch twilight
that I just dont see the point of
this movie.

Basically this two hotties fight for this girl, boring as hell as she is!.
Anyway, one of my first attempts to fashion stylism was in a photo shoot about vampires, in an amazing location where I come from (Gran Canaria, Spain), an old therm bath facilities, we took some great pictures with a improvised wardrobe made of old dresses, pieces of fabrics and the most random accessories (lights of a Christmas tree included as a necklace!!), good make up and a great photographer with very good editing skills, and here is the result. Hope you like it!

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller is my style icon, because of that and a weird lack of inspiration to start my blog, I decided to write about her in my first post.
Bohemian and hippie in a nice way. She has this 70´s look that mixes with nowadays trends.
What I love about her, is her effortlessly look and sense of style, without the help of a stylist (at least that´s what she claims!).
She rocks the best hats, flowery dresses, biker boots, and leather bags like no one does. In the red carpet she knows how to give those amazing dresses her touch of style, and she pairs mini dresses with black tights and botties, messy hair and big earrings.
If you want to give her style a go, and you thing you could rock it as well as she does, just invest in empire line dresses, patterns as stripes and flowers, sequences, flat edgy boots and hippie leather bags; use statement necklaces with tank tops and wayfarer sunglasses. At night think about sequence dresses, black blazers and ankle boots, but never look polished, a bit of messy hair gives that Californian girl look that Sienna, Clhoe Sevigny or Kate Moss make their own.
